Foo Fighters, Bob Dylan, Avenged Sevenfold and Kenny Rogers lead a jammed new music week

The start of June brings with it the biggest new music release week of the year, with titles from Foo Fighters, Bob Dylan, Christina Aguilera and Jack Johnson, as well as long-awaited sets by Avenged Sevenfold and Rancid and a posthumous collection drawn from Kenny Rogers’ vaults. (All subject to change)...

Album of the Week: All ears are on Foo Fighters this week as the group releases its 11th studio album, “But Here We Are” (Roswell/RCA) -- its first since the death of drummer Taylor Hawkins nearly 15 months ago. Dave Grohl took over drums for the session as well as his usual lead vocals and guitar, while his daughter Violet, who’s been a fixture in the Foos’ touring lineup, is on backing vocals. Greg Kurstin, the Foos’ co-producer since 2017, is back on board, and the darker, reflective tone of the lyrics certainly speaks to the circumstances under which the album was made.

Album Title of the Week: The Royston Club, “Shaking Hips and Crashing Cars” (Run on/Modern Sky)

Did Ya Know?: “Life is Like a Song” (UMe) is the first posthumous release from Kenny Rogers, who passed away during 2020 at the age of 81. Curated by his widow Wanda Rodgers, the 10-track set features eight previously unreleased songs and duets with Dolly Parton, Kim Keyes and Jamie O’Neal
